Fernando Lessa
Fernando started his career as a commercial and fashion photographer in Brazil and the UK. However, everything changed when he was invited to join an expedition into the Brazilian Amazon. This experience transformed his life, prompting him to close his studio and dedicate his time to documenting nature while collaborating with scientists, media outlets, academic institutions, and, more recently, the travel industry. He is devoted to capturing the essence of nature and its intricate connection with humankind through his professional photography and videography. As a certified occupational scuba diver accredited by the Diving Board of Canada, he specializes in underwater documentation. In 2023, Fernando embarked on a new adventure as a Nat Hab Expedition Leader, guiding others through the captivating landscapes of Brazil. His passion for sharing the natural world with travelers fuels his love for being in the field.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Fernando is deeply interested in freshwater ecology and anthropology, devoting his free time to studying these subjects. While he appreciates the ocean, his heart truly belongs to freshwater ecosystems, especially when it involves fish. His most cherished memories include exploring the Amazon, which he considers the most enchanting place on Earth. Alongside his love for nature, Fernando enjoys rock climbing and diving. He also maintains his skill in chess, having played at a professional level before attending university.
