Jonathan Guillen
Jonathan Guillen
Jonathan hails from the island of Santa Cruz in the Galapagos. A descendant of fishermen, the ocean was his childhood playground. Some of his best childhood memories include participating in educational activities sponsored by Galapagos National Park, which is when he first became interested in a career in conservation.
As a young adult, Jonathan relocated to San Cristobal to pursue a degree in environmental management from Universidad San Francisco de Quito. He launched his career managing volunteers for conservation projects on San Cristobal and discovered his ardor for connecting people with the breathtaking natural wonders of the Galapagos. In 2017, he became a licensed naturalist guide for Galapagos National Park and has guided enthralled visitors through the enchanted islands ever since. In 2023, he was thrilled to join the Nat Hab team as an Expedition Leader.
Jonathan’s intellectual pursuits also encompass ornithology. Collaborating with the Galapagos Science Center, he focuses on the Galapagos petrel, an endangered seabird endemic to the islands. He finds gratification in sharing his knowledge and witnessing the excitement mirrored in his travelers.
Jonathan loves spending time in nature while on expeditions as well as in his free time. A surfer at heart, he relishes beach time with his family and harbors a wanderlust with sights set on Patagonia, New Zealand and Sequoia National Park in the U.S.
