Karel Beets
Karel Beets
Karel’s lifelong love of nature and the outdoors lead him to a career as a naturalist and conservationist in 1991. He is a cofounder and past president of the Mexican Association of Ecotourism and Adventure Travel and he recently completed his Master’s degree in sustainable development and tourism. When not leading our guests on monarch butterfly, humpback whale and sea turtle expeditions, he pursues his passion for exploring his native Mexico and is an avid birdwatcher and scuba enthusiast. He is also actively involved in humpback whale conservation. Karel’s extensive knowledge of Mexico’s wildlife and natural history and his great sense of humor make him an enduring favorite of our guests.
What Our Guests Say
I enjoyed Karel's sense of humor and especially his helpfulness with my slower pace up the mountains to see the magnificent monarchs. I will never forget this wonderful experience thanks to him.
Karel was great. He seemed to really want everyone to have a wonderful time and he was full of great information. He also has a great sense of humor which always makes group travel so much more fun. And he served fabulous coffee and cake from the back of our van on the beach while we took a break from the unbelievable turtles arriving in mass!
Karel was simply outstanding. He is a gentle man and I look forward to traveling with him as a guide with Nat Hab again. I cannot say enough about this patient, gentle and intelligent fellow.
