Anthony Amsel2022

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Anthony developed a lifelong connection to nature through early explorations of the wild landscapes outside the city. This passion inspired him to pursue a degree in Wildlife Biology, where he specialized in Applied Ecology.

After graduating, Anthony embarked on a career path where he gained hands-on experience in research, conservation, and wildlife management. His worked as a conservation manager and outdoor leader, developing expertise in expedition planning, wildlife interpretation and nature photography while collaborating closely with conservation initiatives.

As a Photography Expedition Leader, Anthony specializes in connecting guests with remote regions, focusing on arctic ecology, marine wildlife interpretation and nature photography instruction. He facilitates immersive and conservation-focused experiences, inspiring guests to connect with the natural world. Anthony’s work has been featured in Canadian Geographic and he has assisted with visual media for the Smithsonian Channel, Parks Canada, and other conservation organizations.

Throughout his career with NatHab, Anthony has led expeditions across diverse northern landscapes, from the icy fjords of Greenland to the coastal tundra of Hudson Bay. Outside of guiding, he enjoys any form of paddling and hiking in the mountains. Currently based in British Columbia, Anthony continues to educate and inspire others through thoughtful leadership and unforgettable nature experiences.

What's in My Camera Bag

My Packing Philosophy
Pack for the adventure, not the prestige. It's easy to get weighed down by expensive gear, but focus instead on the story you want your photography to tell. Choose equipment that best serves your creative vision.
My bag is more of a box. I travel with a Nanuk 935 carry-on and select gear based on the adventure, traveling as light as possible. My current collection includes:

What Our Guests Say

Anthony was outstanding. His knowledge of the area, people and wildlife was exceptional. Furthermore, his disposition was so positive— always happy and humorous! He kept everyone entertained and always polled the group regarding next stop and options for alternatives. I think he’s found his calling!
D. Boyle
We all LOVED Anthony! His infectious, genuine, beautiful personality was the beginning of a great bond between 15 people, many of whom were meeting for the first time. We enjoyed his passion for and knowledge of the area, and I enjoyed watching him spend time with each and every one of us, getting to know who we are, as well.
V. Cook
Anthony was great! Good natured, flexible, patient, and knowledgable. He conveyed passion for Churchill, its people and the lights. He was also really helpful with photography!
M. Meyer
