Marco Fallas
Born and raised in Costa Rica, Marco has small-group explorations through all regions of his country. His research focus is birds and plants, and he has often participated in bird studies conducted throughout Costa Rica. He earned an advanced diploma at the Costa Rica North American Culture Center and has completed courses in vulcanology at the Observatory of Vulcanology and Seismology. You will surely be taken in by his contagious enthusiasm and energy, which are fed by his passion for nature. Marco is always eager to share his knowledge and experience with travelers. Marco also enjoys a cold beer with his guests (and with Nat Hab's director, Ben) on occasion, and we at Natural Habitat refer to him as “El Comidiente” for his wonderful nature and outgoing personality.
What Our Guests Say
Marco was the most knowledgeable, helpful and enthusiastic guide we could possibly have asked for. He loves his job and sharing the nature of Costa Rica with others, and it shows! Even on days when the volcano was fogged in, the wildlife was hiding and the paths were muddy, Marco found a way to get us excited about what we were seeing. We were the lucky beneficiaries of his desire to be the best. We also found him to be lots of fun and very warmhearted.
Marco was amazing. He had a wonderful rapport with everyone on this trip and he seemed to know about every plant and animal in the country. Everyone learned so much and really enjoyed being with him. Marco had two special surprises for us, lunch at an organic farm and dinner with a Costa Rican family. Both of these surprises were amazing.
Marco's knowledge of the wildlife was amazing. He truly is a gem and is a great ambassador for Nat Hab. Marco is a true professional, extremely knowledgeable, warm, caring, humorous, genuine and went above and beyond any other Expedition Leader we've ever had. He has a passion for what he does and treats each traveler with respect and kindness. He made sure that safety was a priority with ease and dedication. He was able to share all his experience and made this one of the most amazing trips I have taken. He did this all with an infectious smile that made you do the same, happily taking in every drop. His ability to just listen to the sounds of the rain forest and find the tiniest bug, bird or animal was amazing. He was so in tune with all that was around him. Through him, the beauty of Costa Rica's rain forests, animals, people and history all shined. He is one of a kind. As we met people along the way, they all seemed to know him and love him. I think if he were to run for President of Costa Rica, he would win.
