Jacob Emerson
Born in the heart of New South Wales’ Central Coast, just north of Sydney, Jacob developed a fascination with wildlife from an early age. His passion led him to work at a local wildlife sanctuary as a teenager, educating visitors about Australia’s natural heritage, Indigenous cultures, and native flora and fauna. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in Biodiversity and Conservation Science from Macquarie University and a Certificate III in Wildlife & Exhibited Animal Care. His extensive zoological experience spans caring for native birds, reptiles, primates, and marine mammals—expertise that is vital to his role as an Expedition Leader.
Jacob’s pursuit of wild places has taken him across Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, with Malaysia and Namibia among his favorite destinations. In 2023, he joined Nat Hab as an Expedition Leader in Australia, blending his zoological knowledge with his love for travel and wildlife interpretation.
Currently based in New Zealand’s Southern Alps, Jacob also works as a conservation educator. An avid wildlife photographer and videographer, he enjoys helping travelers capture nature’s rare and awe-inspiring moments. Restless in spirit, he is always drawn to new landscapes, seeking encounters with the world’s most elusive species.
