Astrid Frisch
Astrid Frisch
Astrid trained as a biologist at Mexico’s National University and has been leading natural history expeditions throughout Mexico since 1991. For years, she has introduced our guests to her country’s most remarkable wildlife and wild places; from the monarch butterfly sanctuaries of central Mexico, to sea turtle nesting sites in the south and the humpback whales of Banderas Bay. Her knowledge and passion as a naturalist are unsurpassed, and her warmth and good nature make her one or our most popular Expedition Leaders. When she’s not working in the field she is actively involved in humpback whale conservation and research in her home city of Puerto Vallarta.
What Our Guests Say
Astrid is one of the very best guides I have ever had in over 10 years of travel outside the U.S. She was just plain fun to be around! She had a great passion for her work, the whales and butterflies and was eager to share her knowledge.
I was able to revel in the magic of the monarchs due to the impeccably curated itinerary and expertise/personality of our guide. Astrid was equal parts professional, passionate and personable. She was so knowledgeable about everything from the monarchs to the local towns and everything in between. She took care of the smallest details. I have no doubt that with her leadership, our trip was made that much more amazing. I cannot be any more appreciative of Astrid.
Astrid was amazing in all aspects of leading a trip. She was kind, friendly and direct, with excellent communication skills. She also made excellent decisions throughout the trip and helped keep everyone smiling. I would travel with her again anytime!
