Giulia Ciampini 2023
Born in Toronto, Canada, Giulia has been a professional photographer since 2009 and a teacher of photography since 2011. In addition to teaching at various institutions, including Vancouver College of Art and Design and North Island College, she’s been leading photography expeditions abroad since 2019, teaching in 17 countries across five continents.
An adventurous spirit, Giulia loves anything that gets her outside -- lengthy hikes, road trips, camping or simply relishing an aimless wander in the wilderness. In 2011, she visited 20 of Canada's 48 national parks and marine conservation areas, with detours for heli-hiking and white-water rafting. She’s completed multiple road trips since then, each venture further shaping her into a figure deeply connected to the natural world
Giulia holds a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of Toronto, a Master of Science in Education from D’Youville University, and a Master of Fine Arts in documentary photography and film from Ryerson University. She has also completed a falconry course, snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef and camped near an active Andean volcano. Giulia is based in Markham, Ontario. In her downtime, she enjoys yoga, ice hockey, indoor rock climbing, Brazilian jiujitsu and hiking.
