Leandro Vaca
Leandro Vaca
Born in Guayas Province, Guayaquil City, Leandro moved with his family to the Galapagos when he was 3 years old. His childhood placed him in the right location; the Galapagos offered an open world where he could spend most of his time in nature, observing insects and playing with sea lions.
Leandro attended university on the mainland to study biology before returning to the Enchanted Islands of the Galapagos for his thesis on reef fishes. He began volunteering at the Charles Darwin Research Station and eventually became a lab manager. In 2017, he left to pursue his dream career as a naturalist guide and has worked for ecotourism companies ever since. In 2023, Leandro joined Natural Habitat Adventures as a Galapagos Expedition Leader. He is eager to share his passion for the Galapagos' flora and fauna with Nat Hab travelers during hiking, snorkeling and kayaking excursions.
Leandro is based in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos. His hobbies include swimming and taking his dog on early morning walks. Leandro has had the chance to travel to Turkey, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and the United States, and is eager to visit Australia and Antarctica.
