Hugo Antonio Sanchez Hernandez
Hugo was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, but fell in love with the ocean at an early age. He has a background in architecture, a bachelor’s degree in alternative tourism and has led expeditions throughout his native country.
Hugo lives in the remote rural mountains of central Mexico with his family on an organic fruit orchard, growing mangos, citrus and other tropical delectables. In recognition of the economic importance of sustainable agriculture, he and his wife ar dedicated to preserving the environmental and cultural heritage of their region. They have two very active kids whose many questions—often about natural science—give Hugo plenty of opportunities to expand his knowledge.
His many guiding experiences have landed Hugo amid some of the world’s most impressive creatures like whales, sharks, dolfins and sea lions, but he is equally awestruck by bees and is an avid beekeeper.
