Born and raised in England, Tom’s first forays into international travel began when he was offered diplomatic postings in Mumbai, India, and then Shanghai, China, with the UK Foreign Service. What followed was an epic 6-year Asian adventure that allowed Tom to live, work, and travel in Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Philippines, and Japan. In 2016, Tom and his wife—a Seattle native—moved back to the U.S., but not before exploring Southeast Asia, Australia, and South and Central America. Along the way, he wrote and edited city guides for a major travel publisher.
In Seattle, Tom began working for a boutique travel agency, where he found his travel and writing background was a perfect match for the travel industry. For 4+ years, Tom helped guests plan trips to Antarctica, the Arctic, and Alaska, all the while developing a keen sense of how sustainable tourism plays a key role in conserving our precious natural wonders. After taking a break to travel and volunteer in Africa—where he visited nine African countries, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, trekked to see mountain gorillas, and tracked wildlife on the Maasai Mara— Tom is delighted to resume his travel planning career with Natural Habitat Adventures.
When he’s not helping guests plan their trip of a lifetime, Tom can be found hiking, climbing and camping in the Pacific Northwest. An avid photographer, Tom never leaves home without his trusty camera!
