Kendal Bower

Kendal grew up in Kansas and Iowa where she spent most of her time playing sports or exploring the great outdoors with the neighborhood kids. Summer road trips across the country to visit family in Texas and California sparked a love of travel and experiencing life outside of her Midwest bubble. In 2006, Kendal graduated from the University of Iowa where she majored in graphic design and received a minor journalism. Not long after graduation, she moved to Philadelphia where she spent many long weekends roadtripping up and down the east coast from North Carolina to Maine. But the Rockies soon came calling and she made the move to Boulder where she began working at Nat Hab in marketing. Beyond her extensive travel across the U.S., Kendal has been fortunate to travel across North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Snorkeling in the southern Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Lady Elliot Island. Photo by Andrew AckermanA first for me, and an absolute thrill to watch a sea turtle go through the entire process of laying her eggs on the beach of Lady Elliot Island.During our visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sactuary, we got the most exciting opportunity to feed resident echidnas who had been brought in sick or injured. While in the Atherton Tablelands, we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Tolga Bat Hospital. This is an orphaned flying fox who is being reared and rehabilitated. While hiking around Cradle Mountain, our group came upon a mother wombat with a joey! A big highlight for the trip. While sitting on the boardwalk at Cradle Mountain, the momma wombat walked directly underneath me!The sunrises and sunsets off the rusty red rocks of Flinders Ranges was simply stunning. My coworker, and travel buddy, Val and I at Chitwan National Park in Nepal.Made a new friend in Bhutan during my visit to the handmade paper factory. The beauty of Bhutan extends from the natural landscapes through to the tiniest of details on buildings and sculptures.Hanging prayer flags in Bhutan.Hiking to Tiger's Nest in Bhutan was the grand finale of my adventure.During our trip, The Hidden Jewels of Zimbabwe & Zambia, we had the pleasure of visiting a local village and school in Zambia. At the school, we each were given a tour of the classrooms by a schoolchild. We had the opportunity to help one classroom with their English reading lesson. Our group made donations to the school, including school supplies and a One World soccer ball. I'm posing with my coworker Val, the Head Mistress of the school, and our Expedition Leader Sam.One of six lion cubs we watched relaxing on a termite mound with two lionesses in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.A giant bull elephant approaches our vehicle while out on a drive in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.Booby selfie! Not being able to see them, only hearing their heavy breaths and grunts, is something that will stick with me.My first trip with Nat Hab was to Churchill. One of my best experiences there was watching a mother nurse her cubs.
