Emily CottinghamRegional Director - East Africa
Emily grew up in Louisville, Kentucky (yes, she’ll talk Derby to you!) but her thirst for adventure began at a young age traveling abroad with her family and continued throughout her life. A semester abroad in college (Lake Forest College), sealed her love of new places, experiences, and people. Post college, Emily embarked on a yearlong trip around the Southern Hemisphere to experience more wild areas.
However, Africa grabbed hold of her heart and didn’t let go. Emily eventually moved to Tanzania, where she ran a high-end Kilimanjaro outfitter, spending her free time escaping to the bush to explore world-class national parks. Years later, when Emily moved back to the US, she became an Africa specialist, planning custom trips to Africa and South America, where she was recognized as one of Conde Nast’s Top Travel Specialists! With over 50 countries visited and extensive experience in Africa, Emily is excited to offer her expertise at Nath Hab and return to her roots: logistics and operations.
Her most memorable travel experiences include driving across Tanzania to visit Jane Goodall’s chimps in Gombe Stream National Park, hiking the jungles in Malaysia, trekking in Nepal, sandboarding the dunes in Namibia, glacier trekking in Patagonia, van camping in New Zealand, her wildlife encounters on countless safaris and of course, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru in Tanzania.
She lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her husband, two daughters and Bernese Mountain dog.
