Alex HaasLead Systems Engineer
Alex was born in Sicily and raised in Virginia. He grew up with a love of the outdoors stemming from his time camping with the Boy Scouts and living in the Shenandoah Valley. He also frequently frolicked on his grandparents' land, affectionately known as “The Holler,” amidst a menagerie of donkeys, goats, dogs and deer. Always interested in the latest technology, Alex attended Virginia Tech and earned a degree in computer engineering. As a proud VT Hokie, you’ll spot him easily around the office sporting a baseball cap displaying his alma mater’s logo.
Feeling a sense of adventure after college, Alex taught English in Daegu, South Korea for a year and a half. This was his first taste of international travel, and he took full advantage of his prime location to travel all over southeast Asia. When it came time to return to the United States, Alex picked Denver, Colorado as his next adventure.
Always an advocate for sustainability, Alex joined a company that refurbished and resold the electronic equipment that other companies would have otherwise thrown away. Through this job, Alex was able to divert thousands of pounds of electronic equipment from landfills. Hand in hand with his passion for sustainability is his love of animals. Alex’s first date with his wife was at the Denver Zoo, where he later proposed. The ability to combine his developer skills with his passion for sustainability and wildlife while working for Nat Hab has been a dream come true.
