Baja Wildlife Guide
While at San Ignacio Lagoon, our focus will be on observing Pacific gray whales and learning about their behaviors, migration patterns and conservation. In addition to these gentle giants, a host of birdlife can be found along Baja's beaches and coasts, from magnificent frigatebirds to double-crested cormorants. Some 300 bird species inhabit the peninsula and islands of Baja California, offering some of the most concentrated and undisturbed aviary habitats in North America. Although numerous varieties of birds thrive in the desert lands, the vast majority of Baja’s native and migrating species are either coastal or open-sea birds.Click the links below to learn more about each species.
