Wildlife Guide
Scotland lies at the intersection of the North Sea and the warm Atlantic Gulf Stream. These waters are rich in nutrients and support an incredible array of marine mammals such as bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals, minke whales and basking sharks. Scotland's secluded isles are safe haven to sea birds—guillemots, razorbills, cormorants, giant skuas, kittiwakes, fulmars, puffins and more. In the highlands, red deer roam and golden eagles soar overhead. Pine martens hide in the hollows of trees, river otters snatch trout from rushing waters and the rare Scottish wildcat prowls.
