If you are unable to travel due to an illness (or injury), we recommend that you stay home. If you have a comprehensive travel insurance policy, it’s important to schedule an appointment with a physician right away. This will likely require an in-person visit to a doctor prior to the date of your trip to certify that you are unfit to travel. In the event that you have to cancel your trip, you will need to submit medical documentation with your insurance claim to be eligible for reimbursement of your non-refundable trip costs.
Please note that as of May 11, 2023, upon the expiration of the federally declared COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, a positive COVID-19 test alone is not considered sufficient for most insurance providers to cover a claim. The insured needs to obtain documentation from their medical provider stating that they are unfit to travel as planned.
