Let Us Offset Your Life for a Full Year!
Nat Hab is once again raising the bar on conservation with an audacious new endeavor. We want to offset the entire carbon output from your LIFE for a whole year!
While we’ve been offsetting all Nat Hab trips and office operations since 2007, we’re taking yet another leap forward: for everyone who joins a trip in our Climate Change & Our Wild World series, we will offset your entire life for one year, starting from the date you book your trip.
You can imagine it’s a complex endeavor to determine how to offset all the CO2 emissions generated in your daily life. Fortunately, we’ve taken out the guesswork—we use established criteria to get as close as possible to accurate figures, based on these assumptions:
Total home size of 5,000 square feet or less
Average annual electricity bills totaling $3,000 or less
Annual air travel outside of Nat Hab at 30,000 miles or less
Average monthly expenditures on goods and services $3,000 or less (groceries, dining out, clothing, etc.)
Average annual driving miles per person of 16,000 miles or less in a car rated at 18mpg or better
If you believe your carbon emissions from the categories above significantly exceed any of these assumptions, please email Court Whelan, Nat Hab’s Chief Sustainability Officer, at courtw@nathab.com, and he will supply you with a more accurate lifestyle carbon calculator.
We realize many of our travelers may come in below the above thresholds in each category. Many drive more efficient vehicles, are dedicated to household energy conservation and/or renewable sources, or travel primarily with Nat Hab, which means your air travel is already offset. However, because we know we cannot calculate absolutely every element of an individual’s lifestyle, we want to overestimate to cover these discrepancies from person to person.
How cool would it be to know a full year's worth of your CO2 impact is being offset through projects to benefit our climate and environment? Take advantage of this inspiring prospect by joining one of our special climate change departures.
