Days 2 & 3: On Safari in Sabi Sand
Explore the vast reserve with expert naturalist guides who are adept at tracking and spotting animals. Abundant wildlife roams the reserve, named for the Sabie River on the southern border and the Sand River that flows through the middle. Each day, make two wildlife drives in an open safari vehicle. Big Five sightings are so frequent that it is not unusual to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino in a single game drive. Within the bounds of this private reserve, afternoon excursions often linger past dusk, turning into night drives in search of nocturnal wildlife—an activity not permitted in the adjacent national park. In addition, you may have the option of a guided safari walk, safety permitting, providing a chance to get close to wildlife at eye level in the quietest way possible. Another special privilege is the opportunity to explore off-road. Since this is a private reserve, our routes are unconstrained by designated roadways, and we can follow the wildlife wherever it leads.
