Physical Requirements
Easy
The Extra Day in Arusha does not require a high degree of physical fitness, but does involve walking on both smooth surfaces and cobblestones as well as climbing a few stairs. All travelers must be able to climb into and out of raised 4x4 safari trucks. Physical activities include a wildlife drive involving several hours of sitting and sometimes bouncing around. While we don't consider this strenuous, it can be uncomfortable and may pose a particular type of physical demand on the body. Travelers should be prepared to be out for most of the day and on their feet for a few hours at a time with opportunities to sit in between. Travelers will be taking frequent breaks as they traverse town by vehicle, but they should be prepared to stand for a length of time at each stop along the itinerary. Arusha is at an elevation of approximately 4,551 feet above sea level.

Getting There & Getting Home
Participants in this pre-trip extension should arrive in Arusha at any time one day prior to Day 1 of your safari. The extension program will end in time for the Welcome Dinner on Day 1 of your safari adventure.
