Physical Requirements
Easy / Moderate
The nature walks on this extension are generally easy and tend to move at a slow pace in order to better spot wildlife. Bear in mind that it is hot and humid in the Amazon year-round, and during rainy season walking through mud may be necessary while on the trails. Guests need to be able to climb in and out of rocking canoes and may need to be able to walk on uneven and slippery terrain depending on the activity. Those who wish to climb the 12-story canopy tower also need to be able to climb 230 steps to reach the top.
Important Information About This Trip
This extension offers an immersion in the tropical jungle and rain forest of Ecuador's Amazon Basin, replete with some of the most diverse plant and animal life on Earth. Departures and arrivals are possible on any day of the week, however there may be a private canoe transfer surcharge for arrivals or departures on Sundays. Discounts are available for children under the age of 12. Please call our office for details: 800-543-8917.
Getting There & Getting Home
This adventure begins and ends in Quito, Ecuador. Our flight to Coca departs early in the morning on the first day, so an overnight in the city or near the Quito airport one night prior is always necessary. This overnight is included starting in 2024. Our return flight from Coca generally lands in Quito between 11 and noon. The timing for this works best as a pre-trip extension.
Pre-Galapagos Extension
Arrive in Quito any time the day on Day 1 of your extension. On the return from Coca, you will be transferred from the Quito airport to the group hotel to start your Galapagos adventure.
We can best serve you if our Natural Habitat Adventures Travel Desk makes your reservations, as we are intimately familiar with the special requirements of this program and can arrange the most efficient travel. Please call us at 800-543-8917. Note that while we offer you the best possible rates available to us on airfare and additional nights' accommodations, you may find special web rates or better fares online.
