Group Size
A very important feature of our British Columbia wildlife adventure is the limited group size, as fewer travelers are essential for the fullest encounter with wilderness, as well as a light footprint on the environment.
Included
Accommodations, services of Nat Hab's professional Expedition Leader, local guides and boat crew, all meals from dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on final day, some alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, airport transfers in Sandspit on Day 1 and final day, all activities and entrance fees, all taxes, permits and service fees.
Not Included
Travel to and from the start and end point of your trip, some alcoholic beverages, some gratuities, passport and visa fees (if any), optional activities, items of a personal nature (phone calls, laundry and internet, etc.), airline baggage fees, airport and departure taxes (if any), required medical evacuation insurance, optional travel protection insurance.
Physical Requirements
Moderate
This adventure does not require a high degree of physical fitness. However, to enjoy all the activities in order to fully explore this remote corner of the world, you should be able to hike at least two miles over potentially muddy, slippery, uneven terrain with some inclines and obstacles such as rocks and tree roots. You must be able to climb up and down a small three-rung boat ladder to board motorized Zodiac rafts or kayaks. Please be prepared for water landings, in which you will climb out of the Zodiac or kayak and step into shallow water while wearing waterproof boots, before stepping ashore. You should also be able to undertake several short walks over potentially wet, muddy, rocky, uneven and sometimes trailless terrain. Travelers may have the opportunity to participate in optional kayaking, weather permitting. Though no prior kayaking experience is required, general fitness and mobility, including the ability to get into and out of a kayak, are essential. While most of our time aboard the boat is spent in protected waters where we do not generally expect rough sea conditions, we will at times be exposed to open water affected by wind and currents as we transit from one anchorage to the next. If you are prone to seasickness, please be prepared for this and take precautions. Please note that waterproof rubber boots are required for this adventure and they will not be available on site, so every traveler must bring their own pair.
Our ability to accommodate varying levels of physical abilities or interests is limited, since these trips are staffed with a single Expedition Leader who may be assisted, pending availability, by local guides.
Mandatory Insurance
Since the areas we travel to are remote and wild (that's why we go there!), we require that all guests have, at minimum, medical evacuation insurance for this program. This is for the safety of all guests. We require that your chosen independent insurance plan includes at least $250,000 in medical evacuation coverage.
To protect your investment and to provide peace of mind while you travel, we also strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance. Plans may cover everything from medical treatment to trip cancellations and delays and lost luggage. Please contact our office if you would like more information about the medical evacuation and comprehensive travel insurance policies we offer by calling 800-543-8917.
Getting There & Getting Home
We have pre-booked space for our travelers on flights from Vancouver to Sandspit on Day 1 of your trip and from Sandspit back to Vancouver on the final day of your trip. These flight times are not determined until spring. We will notify you at that time so you may book your arrival and departure flights into and out of Vancouver. Please note that the cost of these flights is not included in your trip fee and will be assessed separately.
