From Cartridges to Conservation: Dall Sheep of Alaska & the Yukon
If you’re a lover of wildlife, you may have a knee-jerk aversion to hunting. But hunting has actually proven to be an important tool for responsible wildlife management, which is integral to the conservation of North America’s megafauna. Expedition Leader Drew McCarthy, who has spent 13 years guiding natural history tours in Denali National Park, explains how and why. In today’s webinar, Drew presents a compelling overview of how hunting and conservation are linked in the preservation and management of Dall sheep in Alaska and Canada’s Yukon Territory, particularly with regard to the history and establishment of Denali National Park. In this webinar, you’ll also gain an understanding of the natural history and evolution of Dall sheep and their relationship to other mountain sheep around the world.
