Lilia was born and raised in Mexico City. Even as a young child, she showed a keen interest in the ocean and its creatures, especially whales and dolphins. Her passion continued into young adulthood as she pursued academic studies in biology, ecology and wildlife conservation. Since then, Lilia has collaborated on different research projects in Mexico focused on a variety of species including marine mammals, birds and monarch butterflies. Driven to explore wild lands and waters farther afield, Lilia headed to the southernmost sector of the Americas, where she combined the expertise gained through her biology degree with her enthusiasm for teaching in a position as a naturalist guide in Patagonia. From the Strait of Magellan to Cape Horn, Lilia has enthusiastically taken guests to see penguins, sea lions, whales, dolphins, albatross and more. Her affection for the nature, culture and traditions of her home country eventually lured her back to Mexico's Pacific coast, however, where she is currently a Nat Hab Expedition Leader guiding guests on excursions with humpback whales and dolphins in Banderas Bay off Puerto Vallarta.
Lilia was very knowledgeable about the monarch butterflies, very professional, attentive to our group, courteous, helpful and responsive to all of our wishes.
M. Peabody
Lilia excelled as an Expedition Leader. She was sensitive to the needs of the travelers and brought a breath of youthfulness to the group. She is an asset to the Nat Hab team.
E. Kerr
Lilia and Astrid were wonderful. Each brought unique and detailed knowledge about the region and the monarchs, and they took very good care of the group along the way.
Together, Natural Habitat Adventures and World Wildlife Fund have teamed up to arrange nearly 100 nature travel experiences around the planet, while helping to protect the magnificent places we visit and their wild inhabitants.
