Laura Geissinger2018
She attended Messiah College in Pennsylvania where she earned a degree in Biology and Environmental Education. Since then, she has taught outdoor education, been a camp program director and hiking guide, developed an outdoor education program for a camp in India, and joined Nat Hab to lead wildlife adventures in Alaska. Travel has been a longtime passion of Laura's. During college, she studied in England and Africa and took advantage of every chance she had to go somewhere while abroad. Her favorite destinations include Africa, Belize, New Zealand, Australia and Antarctica. Laura enjoys learning about new ecosystems and seeing animals in their natural habitats, as well as experiencing other cultures.
Alaska is home again now, and Laura loves guiding people around her home state, sharing her knowledge of its plants, animals and history, both natural and cultural. When she isn't working in the field, you'll likely find her out there on her own with her camera, hiking, backpacking, camping, biking and canoeing. In winter, she switches to skiing or snowshoeing. On those rare occasions when she is indoors, you might find her sewing, knitting, crocheting or playing an instrument. Constantly involved in some sort of adventure or project, Laura does not know the meaning of boredom!
