Lalaina was born and raised in Antananarivo, the bustling capital city of Madagascar, where he still resides with his family. From a young age, he nurtured an innate love for nature. His fascination with the natural world deepened in the 10th grade when he studied animal food chains and plant lifestyles at school. A subsequent visit to a wildlife park further ignited his passion, prompting him to ponder ways to build a profound connection with the environment and share this enthusiasm with others.
Lalaina's educational journey began at the College of Saint Michael in Antananarivo, where he received his education from elementary school through college. He later pursued a degree in English at the State University of Antananarivo. His aspirations to become a professional guide led him to the National Institute for Tourism in the capital, where he honed his skills for two years.
Upon completing his studies, Lalaina embarked on his professional journey as a tour guide for a local operator in Antananarivo. Since the early 2000s, he has guided travelers through wildlife parks across Madagascar, sharing his passion with nature lovers. In 2018, Lalaina was privileged to guide several Nat Hab groups in Madagascar, and he became a Nat Hab Expedition Leader in 2023.
Lalaina cherishes quiet moments immersed in books, particularly wildlife publications and detective novels. He also enjoys watching television and leisurely trips to the nearby countryside with his wife and son. These moments in nature provide Lalaina with a profound sense of peace and tranquility.
Together, Natural Habitat Adventures and World Wildlife Fund have teamed up to arrange nearly 100 nature travel experiences around the planet, while helping to protect the magnificent places we visit and their wild inhabitants.
