Growing up downtown Toronto, Fiona would use any opportunity to escape into nature. Her yearning for the outdoors ultimately led to a career divided between naturalist guiding and climate change work. After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in genetics, Fiona decided to dedicate more of her professional time to being in nature.
Fiona spent five years as a naturalist guide in Denali National Park. During the off season, she developed an environmental consulting business with a specialty in climate change policy and renewable energy projects. It was her time spent in nature that renewed and fed her commitment to climate change work. A passion for experiencing wildlife in a natural setting has led Fiona around the world from the Antarctic to the Galapagos to East Africa.
Fiona lives in the small mountain town of Nelson, B.C., where she sits on the board of a regional environmental organization, sings with the community choir and haunts the local ski hill in winter. She splits her professional time between leading Natural Habitat trips and working on her next great adventure of developing a life coaching business.
Fiona was informed on all subjects relating to the tundra and was ready to answer any and all questions. She was very pleasant and easy to get along with as well. She paid attention to details and ensured we were on time to all activities. Overall, I had an amazing experience thanks to her. Fiona and her team were nothing shy of fantastic!
