Originally from New England, Colby has an infectious love of exploration and adventure that is immediately evident to those around him. With a degree in Geologic & Environmental Sciences, his passion for guiding lies at the intersection where people, wildlife and wilderness come together. These are the extraordinary places just beyond one’s daily comforts, where we can discover things about the world around us as well as ourselves. He loves that conservation travel offers a pathway to share stories about the natural world, connecting travelers with nature and deepening their understanding of this important relationship.

Since joining Nat Hab in 2006, Colby has led hundreds of expeditions across the globe. He now specializes in our polar destinations as a certified Senior Polar Guide through the Polar Tourism Guides Association (PTGA), of which he is the current chair. He is also an ambassador for Tomorrow's Air, an organization harnesses the powerful community of travelers to support innovative climate solutions and popularize climate-conscious travel.

Colby is also one of our Photo Expeditions leaders and a certified Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Photography instructor. He loves helping others capture the special moments that epitomize Nat Hab's nature immersions. He is passionate about photography and enjoys utilizing past university coursework—dating back to the darkroom days—to connect creatively with like-minded travelers. When he isn't guiding, Colby lives in Boulder, Colorado, where he spends his time rock climbing, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, backpacking and birdwatching.
