Casey's love of nature began at a young age while surfing on the beaches of Southern California. He loved observing the constant change of the ocean and becoming a part of that landscape. After moving to Monterey to study environmental science, Casey realized his passion for the sea carried over to all wild places. His love of nature continued to deepen while guiding, kayaking, hiking and rock climbing along the central California coast and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. After college, he worked as a wildlife biologist in the Sierra National Forest, studying fishers (members of the weasel family). Since then, he has returned to the mountains every season to guide tours and climb. In the off-season, he has taught outdoor education in Moab, led backpacking trips in the Grand Canyon and traveled internationally in his constant search for new mountains and waves. Casey is a Nat Hab Expedition Leader in Alaska as well as throughout the national parks of the western United States and Canada.
In his free time, Casey loves exploring the mountains of South America and Alaska and paddling on his sea kayak. He is an avid birder and has spent time working for the California Condor Recovery Program. When not outdoors, Casey enjoys playing guitar, creating artwork, editing photos and spending time with his family. He splits his time between Ventura and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California and Juneau, Alaska.
Together, Natural Habitat Adventures and World Wildlife Fund have teamed up to arrange nearly 100 nature travel experiences around the planet, while helping to protect the magnificent places we visit and their wild inhabitants.
