Caprice Stoner2023

Raised amid the verdant mountains surrounding Chattanooga, Tennessee, Caprice's affinity for the outdoors was nurtured from a young age. Her father fostered her love of camping, fishing, hiking and swimming and instilled the importance of minimal environmental impact, teaching her his interpretation of the Leave No Trace principle.

Caprice’s love of nature and insatiable wanderlust have guided her to the most remote corners of the world. Her remarkable travels include trekking through the Annapurna foothills in Nepal, swimming alongside sea lions in the Sea of Cortez, navigating the undulating dunes of the Sahara Desert on camelback and rafting the entirety of the Colorado River through the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon National Park.

In addition to her globe-trotting adventures, Caprice is a certified alpine skiing instructor specializing in cognitive impairment. She received a degree in business management at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her professional experiences include positions at prestigious ski resorts such as Deer Valley, Breckenridge and Lake Tahoe. In 2006, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a Naturalist Interpretive Guide in Alaska's Lake Clark National Park. There, she oversaw operations and guided excursions at Nat Hab’s Alaska Bear Camp. Her fascination and reverence for the majestic coastal brown bears have only grown stronger over the years, leading her to become an Alaska Nat Hab Expedition Leader in 2023.

Caprice resides in Chattanooga, Tennessee, during the winters and lives in Alaska the remainder of the year. Her most cherished experiences are witnessing the spark of wonder ignite in people's eyes when they observe the playful antics, imposing power and dramatic interactions of Bear Camp's coastal brown bears. This shared joy of discovery reaffirms her passion and commitment to nature and exploration.
