Leonardo DiCaprio was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this past week to discuss his new movie as well as philanthropic efforts. DiCaprio, who is a WWF Board member, is the founder of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) which supports organizations and initiatives dedicated to securing a sustainable future for our planet. In November 2013, LDF awarded WWF a $3 million dollar grant for tiger conservation in Nepal.
DiCaprio reveals his adventurous spirit and the benefits of experiencing nature and wildlife up close (apparently really close as seen in this video). It’s these experiences that have shaped his commitment to nature.
“The truth is these [animals] have no voice. Only 2% of philanthropy goes to environmentalism which is microscopic compared to the benefits that it gives us. My whole goal with that auction was to isolate some of those places and protect them for all time.”
