A favorite subject for photographers in the Galapagos Islands, playful sea lions provide hours of above- and underwater entertainment.

It seems that NatHab travelers overwhelmingly agree that animals like to play. After posting an article on the topic and a YouTube video of an elk playing in a mud puddle at Good Nature Travel, I received an e-mail from David Kleeman, who wrote to me with some stunning footage shot by his wife, Leslie Hornig, of a sea lion having fun with a starfish. David and Leslie were on Natural Habitat Adventures’ Classic Galapagos expedition in July and August of 2010. Leslie spotted this sea lion playing off the island of Espanola.
