The Peruvian Amazon is home to many biologically diverse ecosystems, including an array of freshwater fish, butterflies, birds, mammals and reptiles. Its extensive tree coverage—nearly 260,000 square miles—makes it one of the world’s largest store houses of carbon. WWF is supporting SERNANP, the Peruvian Parks Service, to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and management of 38 national parks in the Peruvian Amazon through the initiative: National Parks: Peru’s Natural Legacy.
