If you happened to be watching NBC’s TODAY Show this morning, you may have seen a familiar face – Nat Hab’s own Don Martinson, Director of Travel Industry Relations, was featured in a segment about top travel trends from Virtuoso Travel Week!
To capture the flavor of Travel Week, TODAY’s crew spent a morning filming four-minute “speed-dating” style appointments between travel advisors and suppliers like Nat Hab. West Coast correspondent Joe Fryer interviewed representatives from various Virtuoso member suppliers, including Martinson.
What travel trends did Fryer learn about at Travel Week? “Experts say right now the most popular tourist places are the ones where you can learn something,” says Fryer. “Expeditions are big, like voyages to Greenland and Iceland, or any part of the Arctic where you can get up close and personal with nature.” In addition to nature and wildlife trips, he found that savvy travelers are gravitating toward cultural and culinary-themed tours.
Virtuoso’s Misty Ewing Belles points out that “it’s really about the personal enrichment and less about the simple relaxation.”
