In June 2017, Nat Hab traveler Ardelle Fellows encountered wild lemurs and more as she explored the wondrous biodiversity of Earth’s most unique island on a small-group Madagascar Wildlife Adventure.
This African island is essentially living time capsule, a “lost world” that’s home some of the planet’s most unusual (and photogenic) species. About 80 percent of Madagascar’s fascinating flora and fauna exist nowhere else on the planet, including more than 100 different varieties of lemur.
Even for the best-traveled nature lovers, Madagascar offers a kaleidoscope of fresh discoveries. Browse through Ardelle’s photos below to see why, when it comes to novel destinations for nature adventures, Madagascar is tough to top.
