The Outpost
Location
Kruger National Park, South Africa
The Outpost is exactly that: a remote luxury safari lodge that lies within the Makuleke Contractual Park, a vast wilderness area bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe and to the east by Mozambique. One of the few true wilderness areas left in South Africa, Makuleke (also known as Pafuri) is home to more than 80 percent of Kruger's biodiversity. The Outpost has been designed with simple, clean lines, combining steel, concrete and open space in an unabashedly contemporary design that blends into its wild surroundings. Accommodation consists of 12 modern stand-alone, open-plan luxury suites, all with en suite facilities and panoramic views of the river and bush below.
Guests will enjoy game drives and walking safaris in one of the most scenic and diverse wilderness areas in the Kruger. The mosaic of landscapes includes stunning mountains, deep gorges, forests of yellow-tinged fever trees, monolith baobabs, mopane woodland and open savanna. Wildlife here is abundant, with less common species not present in the more heavily visited southern and central regions of the park. In addition to large herds of elephant and buffalo, guests will also be able to see nyala, an antelope distinct to this sector of the park, and more than 350 recorded bird species.
