Situated in open countryside near the northernmost part of Vatnajokull National Park, Hotel Skulagardur is a simple, pleasant accommodation just a 10-minute drive from Asbyrgi Canyon. A former boarding school and community hall built in the 1950s, the property was converted in recent years into a comfortable rural hotel. Its 17 double rooms have en suite private bathrooms with showers. Food served at the Restaurant Asbyrgi on the premises features home-style cooking and fresh products from the area, such as lamb from local farmers; trout, salmon and arctic char; and locally grown vegetables.
Together, Natural Habitat Adventures and World Wildlife Fund have teamed up to arrange nearly 100 nature travel experiences around the planet, while helping to protect the magnificent places we visit and their wild inhabitants.
