Qorokwe Camp
Location
Okavango Delta, Botswana
Qorokwe Camp is a brand-new outpost in the wildlife-rich southeast sector of Botswana's Okavango Delta. Opening in December 2017, the camp is located in the heart of the private Qorokwe Concession, an enormous, virtually pristine wildlife reserve encompassing nearly 65,000 acres. Bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Qorokwe comprises a diverse array of delta habitats. With permanent water year-round, guests are assured of outstanding game viewing during every season. From palm-dotted islands and scattered acacia woodlands with herds of giraffe, zebra and abundant plains game to sprawling floodplains that are home to red lechwe, elephants and giant buffalo bulls—not to mention the resident lion pride—Qorokwe offers unparalleled wildlife encounters in the delta.
Accommodations are in eight tented suites, plus one extra-large family suite with its own splash pool. En suite facilities feature indoor/outdoor showers. The common area overlooks a lagoon that attracts wildlife to camp, and the dining area, lounge, library and bar are built on raised wooden platforms connected by walkways. Guests enjoy game drives in open 4x4 Land Cruisers to view abundant wildlife by day, while night drives often reveal sightings of nocturnal civet, genet and bushbabies, and possibly leopard and owls. Exploring the water environs by boat or poled mokoro, look for frogs and birds including the brilliantly plumed malachite kingfisher. Birdwatching and nature walks complete the spectrum of wildlife viewing activities.
