Location
Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda
Deep within Kibale Forest National Park, Primate Lodge offers exclusive, eco-conscious accommodations surrounded by lush tropical rain forest. It’s an ideal base for tracking the 13 species of primates that live within the park, including the famous chimpanzees. Varied accommodation styles offer seclusion and privacy, with the silence interrupted only by the melodic calls of numerous forest birds. Eight deluxe tents with private verandas are built on raised wooden platforms with thatched roofs, in harmony with the natural environment. Interiors feature queen-sized natural log beds, bright-colored linens and large picture windows overlooking the forest. En suite bathrooms are finished with local touches of natural stone and bamboo. Seven intimate forest cottages have private verandas, twin beds, a sitting area, en suite bathrooms, and are decorated with traditional African art. For guests who want an extra bit of adventure, the Sky Tree House offers a remote setting high up in a tree overlooking an elephant wallow, about 10 minutes’ walk from the main lodge facilities. It consists of a simple bedroom and basic washing facilities at the tree
Tucked among the greenery, the lodge common areas comprise a spacious dining room serving international and traditional African dishes; a well-stocked bar; and an open lounge with comfortable large chairs, sofas and pillows—the ideal area to relax after a day of adventure as you listen for the chatter of red-tailed monkeys. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the public areas.
