Mantadia Lodge
Location
Andasibe, Madagascar
Set high on a ridge overlooking the rain forest, this boutique ecolodge opened in 2018. Twenty-seven contemporary whitewashed stone and stucco bungalows have individual terraces with broad views over the wild realm of the indri, a lemur with a distinctive loud call found only in the nearby Perinet Reserve and Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Stylish interiors are defined in natural materials including sustainable local wood and stone, with comfortable beds set on raised timber platforms, a wall-mounted wooden slab desk with leather chair, and en suite bathrooms with modernist stone sinks and showers with a view. Each room has a wood stove to add warmth and ambience. Amenities include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat screen satellite TV, safe, and tea/coffee maker.
The restaurant is a highlight of our stay, from its chef-inspired creative Malagasy cuisine to its striking modern decor rendered in a natural palette in wood, stone and leather. Each morning, a lavish international buffet breakfast is served. Dine inside and drink in the view through floor-to-ceiling windows, or enjoy your meal outdoors on the terrace. The lodge also has a long rectangular infinity pool, spa with soaking baths and massage therapy incorporating natural oils from Madagascar, and a small souvenir shop featuring products made by local artisans.
