Little Mombo
Okavango Delta, Botswana
Little Mombo Camp lies along the northern tip of Chief's Island, in the private Moremi Game Reserve within the famed Okavango Delta, and is linked to Mombo Camp by a raised walkway. A substantial distance separates the two entities, however, and Little Mombo’s intimate size enables a luxuriously private feeling. The camp consists of three spacious tents, identical to those at nearby Mombo, and its own dining area, kitchen, lounge and pool – all situated to take advantage of the spectacular views. This setting is ideal for small groups and guests looking for a secluded experience; however, guests should not feel isolated, as they are welcome to join other guests to socialize and enjoy the amenities of nearby Mombo Camp if they wish. Activities at Little Mombo are identical to those of Mombo Camp.
On a daily basis, large concentrations of game frequent the front of the camp, allowing guests to experience exciting views without even leaving the veranda. In fact, it’s not unusual to find game wandering directly through camp at nearly any time of day.
Activities at Mombo include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles to explore the savannah and floodplains. Common sightings include lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, spotted hyena, southern giraffe, blue wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra and large buffalo herds. Black and white rhino have been successfully reintroduced to the region; however it still remains a rare treat to catch a glimpse of these shy creatures.
