La Estrella Amazonica
La Estrella Amazonica is a new luxury riverboat built in 2013, custom-designed for cruising the Amazon and its tributaries. Air-conditioned throughout for maximum comfort, this 143-foot vessel accommodates just 30 guests in 15 spacious cabins. A crew of 11, plus an Expedition Leader and two naturalist guides, are at your service. Cabins are generously sized and have en suite bathrooms, private balconies with chairs, a desk, an ample closet, and 110/220-volt electrical outlets. Standard cabins have two beds or can be converted to queen-size beds. Superior cabins have a queen and a twin bed (which can be converted to 3 twins for a bit of a tight squeeze), and can accommodate triples. There is one smaller "solo" cabins for singles. Six of the cabins can be converted to create two adjoining suites, ideal for families traveling together.
A stylish dining room features gleaming hardwood floors and picture windows so you don't miss a bit of the passing view. Tables seat 6 to 8, allowing you to get to know fellow guests as you dine on fine regional and international cuisine, prepared on board from fresh, local ingredients. Other public spaces include a covered open-air bar and observation deck atop the ship with 360-degree views; a lecture room with 55-inch LCD TV, home theater system (with movies available) small library and comfortable sofas for relaxing; and an on-board fitness room with stair climbers, stationary bikes and weights, so guests can stay active in air-conditioned comfort. Complimentary on-board laundry service is available.
The ship carries two stable 18-passenger skiffs for excursions accompanied by knowledgeable local naturalist guides (in addition to NHA's Expedition Leader). Naturalists also provide daily presentations and discussions in the onboard lecture room, as well as a daily reception featuring complimentary wine and beer.
The ship was built following SOLAS and MARPOL international guidelines, and exceeds Peruvian saftey standards. International environmental standards also guide all ship system designs and operations, making this the most environmentally responsible vessel on the Amazon.
