Ethno Houses
Location
Plitvica Selo, Croatia
This luxury resort is located in the heart of Plitvice Lakes National Park, near the 256-foot-high Great Waterfall and the small boat harbor at Lake Kozjak. Built in harmony with the nature that surrounds it, the individual chalets are meant to evoke an old village, reflected in elements of classic Lika regional architecture, with interiors that exude up-to-date luxury. The overall effect is “mountain modern,” a perfect blend of tradition and contemporaneity. The main building materials are stone and wood, creating the warmth of a mountain lodge. Rooms are furnished with traditional handmade furniture and heavy fabrics, with a host of amenities including 54-inch satellite TV, radio, telephone, free Wi-Fi, coffee maker, tea kettle and safe. Wood-wrapped bathrooms have whirlpool tubs, hair dryers, bathrobes, slippers and toiletries. The restaurant, located in the center of the resort, features local Lika cuisine served in a cozy setting with a heavy beamed ceiling and charming wooden tables and chairs in a rustic style. Specialties include wild game ravioli, potatoes homegrown on the premises, garden-raised herbs and spices, and Croatian wines. The Ethno Wellness spa features a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath and purifying salt room, simulating the therapeutic effects of a salt cave. A full slate of massage services is also offered.
