Hear from two Colorado-based wildlife biologists who have been researching Namibia’s fascinating desert-adapted elephants for the last 15 years. Laura Brown and Rob Ramey make an annual trip to the Kunene region of Namibia to observe the behaviors and demography of a small sub-population of elephants living in the Hoanib and Hoarusib River drainages. As endangered species specialists, they are seeking solutions to the issue of human-elephant conflict which is the main threat to their survival in this remote area, and their annual reports to the Namibian government are becoming increasingly important in policy decisions on elephant management in the Namib Desert. We will also get an overview of Nat Hab’s Namibia adventures from Expedition Leader Brad Josephs and hear the story of how he met Laura and Rob in Namibia in 2019.
