Everyone has heard about declining bee numbers, but with so much attention focused on domesticated honeybees, someone must speak up for the 4,000 species of native bees in North America. Clay Bolt, who works with WWF’s Northern Great Plains Program, is on a quest to tell the stories of our native bees, and one elusive species, the rusty patched bumble bee—the first bee species in the continental U.S. to join the endangered species list – has become his obsession. Clay, who is a biologist, entomologist, conservation photographer and filmmaker, will introduce his film, A Ghost in the Making: Searching for the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee, and host a question-and-answer session afterward.
