In spite of his name, which means ‘revered elder’ in Kiswahili, Mzee is far from being in the dotage of his years! Perhaps his Mother was insightful enough to realize that Mzee would grow to be one of life’s delightful characters and therefore needed a name that was out of the ordinary as Mzee certainly is.

Wildlife Explorer has been privileged to have Mzee as a guide since 1994 and to many repeat guests a safari without the humor of Mzee’s involvement is a safari not worth having. Frivolity aside, Mzee has great expertise and a wealth of knowledge, which is given freely and with a touch of humor to all of his guests.
