Bedley's journey as an Expedition Leader is deeply rooted in his upbringing in the small village of Bundu Tuhan, nestled in the foothills of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, northern Borneo, Malaysia. Growing up in the mountainous heart of Borneo, surrounded by lush tropical rainforests, Bedley honed his knowledge of nature, wildlife, insects, medicinal plants, birds and wilderness survival from a young age. His grandmother instilled in him a deep respect for the environment, and community experts taught him hiking skills, fueling his passion to guide others through nature.

Upon completing his Malaysian Higher School Certificate in his village, Bedley attended a one-month course at the Borneo Tourism Institute, where he studied a range of subjects from geology to wildlife law enforcement. In 2015, he earned his guiding license, marking the start of his professional journey in ecotourism.

Bedley began his career at a rock climbing company atop Mount Kinabalu, known for the world's highest via ferrata hike. His dream of becoming a nature guide led him to volunteer as a facilitator and caretaker for orangutans at a rehabilitation center on Sabah's east coast. For six years, he devoted himself to the conservation of these endangered primates, helping to rehabilitate and release them back into the wild. He has traversed the diverse landscapes of Borneo, from jungles to reefs and mountains, and is dedicated to conservation travel. Bedley has been leading Borneo expeditions with Nat Hab since 2018.

Bedley's adventures have taken him to Australia and India to observe endemic species and to Laos to witness cultural traditions. A lover of cooking, hiking, camping and music, Bedley stands out in his family as the sole member of his eleven siblings to be involved in the wildlife tourism industry. His life is a testament to his commitment to sharing the wonders of the wild with others.
