Physical Requirements
Moderate
Travelers must be able to walk unassisted (walking aids cannot be accommodated) a minimum of two miles at a steady pace over uneven ground and climb down and up 300 steep and uneven stone steps in a very narrow stairway with handrails in order to participate in all activities offered during this extension. This extension also requires an early morning start and long day of driving and activities, which can be quite tiring the day following your arrival to China (arriving an extra day early is recommended). Climbing the steps alongside the Buddha, as well as visits to the Mahao Cliff Tombs and Wuyou Monastery, are dependent upon individual physical abilities and are not guaranteed. An option for viewing the Buddha by boat is available for those with more limited capabilities.

On this extension our primary focus is visiting one of Chengdu's most famous cultural monuments.
Mandatory Insurance
Since the areas we travel to are remote and wild (that's why we go there!), we require that all guests have, at minimum, medical evacuation insurance for this program. This is for the safety of all guests. We require that your chosen independent insurance plan includes at least $250,000 in medical evacuation coverage.

Getting There & Getting Home
You are free to arrive in Chengdu at any time on Day 1 of the extension. You will spend one night in Chengdu, depart early the next morning for your excursion, then join your group on the evening of Day 2 to begin our Wild Side of China adventure. We can best serve you if Natural Habitat Adventures' Travel Desk makes these reservations, as we are intimately familiar with the special requirements of this program and can make the most efficient arrangements.
