When National Geographic photographer Paul Nicklen jumped in the waters off Antarctica to photograph a leopard seal, he never expected her to play the perfect host—and offer him a snack.
The huge seal began to bring him food: live penguins. When he didn’t partake, she brought him different fare—weak and dead ones.
Sometimes, even if you’re an accomplished top predator, you just can’t seem to please your guests!

Truly amazing! Thanks for passing this along, Candice. I had more than a few dream-filled nights about leopard seals after reading Alfred Lansing’s Endurance, and not once did those dreams include offers of food by one – I was the food!
I LOVE this story!! Thanks for sharing it.
Pretty amazing story !!
