Have you ever been to the Peabody Hotel in Memphis? It’s famous for the resident flock of ducks that march through its lobby twice a day.

Mfuwe Lodge in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park has Africa’s super-sized answer to the Peabody’s ducks. Each year, from October through early December, a resident herd of elephants gingerly tromp through the lodge’s lobby in order to get to a fruiting wild mango trees on the other side. They’ve been doing it for years and at least three generations of the same elephant family have participated in the annual ritual. Guests love it, of course, and the elephants have even been featured in wildlife documentaries because of their unusual behavior. Check it out:
